Ideally, orthodontic treatment will be completed prior to implant placement. First, it is recommended to have a consultation with your chosen dental implant provider, which may be a general dentist, periodontist, or oral surgeon. Then, your orthodontist will work with your dental implant provider to determine the ideal amount of space to create for the implant. Next, using clear aligners or traditional braces, your orthodontist will align your teeth and create the ideal bite while preserving the predetermined amount of space for the future implant. Once your orthodontics treatment is complete, then you will return to your dental implant provider to have the implant placed and restored.
